"There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic. "

Anais Nin

Silence

With some friends I was talking about aging...and we discovered we had this in common: we now love and need silence...so for all my frieds I sent this poem written by a beautiful Persian Poet who lived between 1320 and 1388...

Silence
A day of Silence
Can be a pilgrimage in itself.

A day of Silence
Can help you listen
To the Soul play
Its marvellous lute and drum.

Is not most talking
A crazed defence of a crumbling fort?

I thought we came here
To surrender in Silence,

To yield to Light and Happiness,

To Dance within
In celebration of Love’s Victory!

You are right about silence - the older I get the more I appreciate it. I've always been comfortable with silence though even as a young woman.
